This site (and J.K. Rowling herself) uses the Lexicon's timeline for making sense of the history of the Harry Potter Universe. We have attempted to put together a comprehensive timeline for different 'eras' in the Marauders' lives, sourced HEAVILY from the Lexicon. These timelines would not have been possible without Steve's gracious permission to use his research.
The Lexicon uses two types of dating system; we tend to prefer making Harry's birth in 1980, and then going backwards from there to figure out everything else, so that's the dating system we've chosen to follow.
